Using the G2000 Ladder Rack

Preliminary warnings
Park the vehicle on even solid ground where possible so to optimise the balance of the sledge and remove any slipping/tripping hazards. Where this is not possible, the operator must take extra care because the G2000 Ladder Rack functionality will be affected (deployment will be faster or slower depending how the vehicle is positioned on the ground).

Loading/deploying a ladder

If the G2000 Ladder rack does not require the use of the pull down handle (i.e. low roof vehicles), go to point 3), otherwise proceed as follows.

1. Clasp the pull down handle to the lower rod (dia. 20 mm) located at the back of the rear cross bearer (see picture 1).

2. Push the lower part of the handle forward so that the retaining pin will engage against the upper rod
(dia. 10 mm) located at the back of the rear cross bearer (see picture 2).

3. Lengthen the telescopic hook to the desired length. To do this hold the white and blue hook with one hand and with the other hand rotate the red rod part anti-clockwise (see picture 3). Do the opposite to lock the telescopic hook.

4. Using the blue hook of the telescopic pole, pull the two red levers at the back of the ladder rack down to release the safety catches from the pins they are engaged with (see picture 4a and 4b).

5. With the two red levers down, pull the sledge back enough that the two safety catches are not engaged against the pins anymore (see picture 5). Once the catches are not engaged against the pins, you can release pressure on the lever.

6. Despite the G2000 Ladder Rack being a fully assisted system, it is good practise to hold the pull down handle during the unloading of the ladder until the sledge has completed its descent (see picture 6).

7. When securing the ladder onto the sledge of the rack, always ensure that the ladder rails sit within the two black plastic “L” retainers and that the lower rungs of the ladder are engaged between the two aluminium loops retainers at the back of the sledge (see picture 7).

8. Release the screws that block the metal plate to which the securing strap belt is fast. This will loosen the plate, allowing you to slide it along the bonnet panel until it is aligned under a ladder. Secure the ladder against the sledge by strapping the belt around the chosen rung (see picture 8). We recommend that the strap plate is positioned towards the centre of the ladder. Tighten the plate to ensure it no longer moves up and down, then and always before driving, shake the ladder to be sure that everything is properly secured in place.

9. To bring the sledge and the ladder back onto the vehicle roof, use the pull down handle and help the sledge to rise. Then apply a gentle pressure upwards so that the sledge will go back in horizontal position and finally push (gently) the sledge forward so that the safety catches will engage the pins (see picture 14) and the sledge is secured on the ladder rack. You will usually and normally hear a click when the catches engage with the pins. We recommend always a visual check to ensure this has happened.

10. Finally, release the pull down handle retaining pin pulling the ring down with the hook provided
(see pictures 10a and 10b).

11. To remove the handle from the ladder rack lift the pull down handle, that little to disengage the handle from the rod. Store the handle inside your vehicle.
