CVC awarded the vehicle equipment initiative of the year award 2009

Chambers Vehicle Conversions are delighted to announce that they have been honoured with the vehicle equipment initiative of the year award 2009 at this year's Fleet Van Awards. Joe Chambers, Managing Director received the award at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel on Thursday 1st October.
On receiving the award Joe commented “as a young company we were delighted to have been recognised by being given this prestigious award; fighting off competition from some of the industries more established and well known firms came as a surprise but demonstrates our vibrant and innovative product range has a real place in the market”
CVC have produced a viable alternative to the traditional messing vehicle conversion offered by their competitors, and by utilising composite materials they have been able to reduce the weight of the interior fit out drastically, increasing the post-conversion payload by circa 400kgs.
This has led to their customer, Tarmac plc being able to save money in fuel and fines and has also meant a reduction in their pool fleet. Historically, sometimes due to weight restrictions, they have deployed two vehicles to the same job, whereas now, they can normally get the 7 crew and tools into one vehicle.
Steve Wragg, National Plant Manager for Tarmac National Contracting comments:
“Our National Contracting gangs carry a large amount of tools and specialist equipment and we are always aware of keeping our crewbuses within safe, legal weight limits. When CVC suggested at our initial meeting that they could reduce the weight of the conversion by 400kgs, I have to admit I was sceptical. However they have been true to their word and that target has been reached, without compromising safety performance or internal specification".
"We currently have 15 vehicles in fleet using the new lightweight technology, with a further 10 in production and fully expect the new design will help us to reduce fuel costs and prevent the possibility of vehicle overloading" adds Steve.

Not only does CVC's solution save weight, money and time, the testing they have carried out illustrates that utilising the materials they do, offers extra strength and durability to the conversion, increasing product life expectancy and operator safety.
"To our knowledge, this is a UK first; our competitors and the industry have for the last 20 or so years, sold solutions based on materials such as plywood and steel. We have been able to demonstrate the suitability of other material types" explains Joe.
As they move forward CVC will be looking to make further investment with continuous development of the kit they use and will be looking to obtain certain certifications from approved bodies; such as VCA approval, type approval, TUV marking and crash testing. |

PRESS RELEASE: 30 JULY 2008
If you cannot find the wockermaloos in the back of your van you have just wasted 100% fuel, 100% employee costs, and made no sale.
Simply by avoiding aborted customer service calls, due to missing parts, materials or tools the first rule of waste management can be achieved, “don’t make it in the first place”, explains Joe Chambers, Managing Director of Chambers Vehicle Conversions Limited in Stafford. There are over 350,000 new vans being registered this year, many are destined for the services industry, and the level of preparedness to operate from a well structured organised vehicle environment is not high on the list of priorities for many business operators. Ironically, the failure to deliver first-time, is an amazing waste of everything, fuel and wages to name but two, whilst the chances of the customer going elsewhere could be another.
Chambers Vehicle Conversions of Stafford are pleased to announce the appointment of Kay Salmon, who will communicate to mobile service providers nationwide the benefits of working from a structured and safe mobile workplace.
Kay presents an innovative array of solutions from the Chambers Company range of modular vehicle storage and work solutions with an eye to detail, explained through innovative business proposals to help van operators make informed decisions. Joe Chambers said “that converting in excess of 75 vans a month enables the business to understand service trends and industry changes and by providing a genuine ‘one stop shop’ for fitting livery, communications, trackers, tow bars, safety lighting, and security that customers will have a real champion working on their behalf with Kay, serving them with her passion and clarity in helping our customers to realise the very best solutions at the right and justifiable price”.
“By the way, the wockermaloos are on the offside rear, second shelf down in the green bin, and you will need a wackidooee from the nearside bottom cabinet to fit it. It’s easy when you know how says, Kay” |
